Bhubaneswar: To battle the anti-China sentiment in the country, Xiaomi is marketing its upcoming 55-inch QLED TV as a fully ‘Make in India’ product.
Xiaomi, which is one of the top sellers of smart TVs in India, will enter the premium TV sement with this launch under its Mi brand.
Mi currently has a 22 per cent market share in smart TVs.
Known for the value-for-money products, it will be interesting to watch out how the Chinese maker competes against LG, Samsung, Sony and OnePlus.
“We have seen that the aspirations of the consumers are ever-changing. With the launch of new QLED TV, we are focusing on the improvement of the momentum of this segment as well as increase its adaptation rate,” Eshwar Nilakantan, Category Lead, Smart TV, Mi India, told IANS.
Mi TVs also run a customized operating system – Patchwall designed specifically for Indian consumers which apart from integrating with popular OTT channels like Netflix, Hotstar, etc, also binds direct-to-home (DTH) channels directly on the same user interface.
The 55-inch QLED TV is expected to be launched on December 16.
