New Delhi: A mid-air collision between two IndiGo aircraft was averted over Bengaluru airspace on Tuesday.
Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) was triggered on two aircraft operating Coimbatore-Hyderabad and Bangalore-Cochin routes respectively on Tuesday and normal procedure was followed, said the sources on Thursday.
The planes were less than four miles apart, with a vertical separation of 200 feet.
“The TCAS-Resolution Advisory system was triggered on two of our aircraft operating Coimbatore-Hyderabad and Bangalore-Cochin routes respectively on July 10, 2018. Following normal procedure this has been reported to the regulator,” the airline said in a statement.
In February this year, a mid-air disaster was averted in Mumbai air space when a Vistara aircraft came perilously close to an Air India plane. This incident prompted the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) to launch a probe.
