Bhubaneswar: The National Security Guard (NSG) along with Odisha police conducted mock drills at prominent places in the state capital late on Thursday.
The Black Cat commandos of the NSG and the Special Operations Group (SOG), Special Tactical Unit (STU) and Special Security Battalion (SSB) of Odisha Police took position at Rajiv Bhawan, State Secretariat, State Assembly and Biju Patnaik International Airport. The two-hour exercise was aimed at testing the preparedness of Odisha police in tackling terrorist attacks at major government installations of the state.
On Tuesday, a team of the elite anti-terrorist outfit met Director General of Police KB Singh, Director (Intelligence) Sunil Roy, Police Commissioner Y B Khurania and IG (Operations) R P Koche. The meeting discussed the state’s preparedness to tackle any kind of terror attack in future and had set plans to carry out a three-day drill. Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to counter the potential threats and acts of terrorism within the state was also discussed, sources said.
