New Delhi: AAP leader and Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj on Tuesday said senior party leader and Rajya Sabha member Raghav Chadha was absent during this election period because of a critical eye complication.
“He is in the UK; there was a complication in his eyes and I was told that it was quite critical that he might have lost his eyesight as well. He has gone there to get treatment. I have my best wishes with him. He will be back soon in good health and will join the campaign,” Bharadwaz said in a press conference.
Chadha has been in London for the last two months though his wife actor Parineeti Chopra returned ahead of the release of her film, Amar Singh Chamkila. The AAP leader was a close associate of Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and so his absence during the election period and especially when the AAP supremo is in custody in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case, is being questioned by opposition.
Last month, Chadha’s meeting with British Labour MP Preet K Gill, known for advocating Khalistan separatism and anti-India sentiments on social media, sparked speculation.
BJP leader Amit Malviya last month claimed that very few AAP leaders were standing by the chief minister.
Though not physically present in Delhi, Chadha has been active on social media and sharing the party’s posts on his handle.
