Berhampur/Paralakhemundi: Panic gripped Ganjam and Gajapati districts on Saturday morning following a mild earthquake in some areas.
According to reports, a mild tremor was felt for 3-4 seconds in some areas of Patrapur, Chikiti and Digapahandi block in Ganjam district and Mohana, Adaba and R Udayagiri in Gajapati district at 7.10 am with a magnitude of 3.8 on the Richter Scale.
The people in these areas ran away from their homes out of fear. However, there was no report of any casualty.
According to the National Centre for Seismology, the epicenter of the quake was 73-km west-south-west of Berhampur.
