Bhubaneswar: People in the North Odisha panicked following a mild earthquake on Tuesday evening.
Reports said the tremor was felt at around 6.33 pm in Keonjhar’s Anandpur, Baripada, Betonati and Badasahi in Mayurbhanj district and Jaleswar, Nilagiri and Balasore town in Balasore district.
People ran out of their houses in fear soon after they felt the tremor.
However, there was no loss of life and property.
Soon after the tremor, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in a release said that the epicentre of the quake of 5 magnitude on the Richter Scale was in Hugli in West Bengal.
