Berhampur: A minor boy, adopted by an additional tehsildar in Odisha’s Ganjam district, has levelled allegations of torture against him.
The boy was rescued from the Berhampur bus stand and brought before the district Child Welfare Committee, where he narrated his ordeal. The Child Welfare Committee ordered that he be kept in a Short Stay Home after the boy said he doesn’t want to go back to his house.
According to sources, the additional tehsildar adopted him about a year ago from Jajpur when he was 10 years old. The additional tehsildar and his wife live in Chhatrapur in Ganjam district.
Two days ago, the boy went missing after leaving for school. He was spotted at the Berhampur bus stand at midnight. Child Helpline members reached the spot and rescued him. There were injury marks all over him. He was taken to the MKCG Medical College & Hospital. After treatment, he was brought before the district Child Welfare committee, which ordered his stay in a Short Stay Home.
The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) has been ordered to investigate the allegations.
