Minor Boy Detained For Murder Of Fast Food Stall Owner In Odisha’s Ganjam
Berhampur: Police have detained a minor boy for alleged murder of a fast food stall owner in Odisha’s Ganjam district.
According to police sources, the stall owner, Jagannath Nayak of Khairput village under Gangapur police station in the district had engaged the 15-year-old boy belonging to Baruda under Bhanjanagar police station, in his shop as a helping hand.
“Though Jagannath had engaged the boy with an assurance of paying monthly salary of Rs 1500, he never paid him. Whenever the boy asked him for money, he used to assault him. If the boy wanted to leave the job, Jagannath was threatening to file theft case against him. This led the juvenile to plan the murder of Jagannath,” said Berhampur SP Saravana Vivek M.
On November 28 night, the cook of the fast food joint left for his home and Jagannath and the boy were left in the rented house. After Jagannath fell asleep, the juvenile brought a heavy stone and thrashed his head and also assaulted him with an iron door clamp. As Jagannath died on the spot, the boy left the house after locking it from outside, the SP said.
The body of Jagannath was found in a decomposed condition from the rented house by breaking open the house in presence of the Executive Magistrate and witnesses, police said.
The police produced the boy before the JJB, Berhampur on Tuesday and further investigation is going on, said the SP.
