Bhubaneswar: The Childline rescued a 7-year-old girl, who was allegedly tortured by her father and stepmother, at Balipatna in Khurda district on Wednesday.
On being informed by the biological mother of the minor girl about her exploitation by her present parents, a team of Childline with the help of some local social workers rescued the undernourished girl from her house and admitted her to the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar.
“We are providing all necessary care, medicines and food to the child at the hospital,” said Childline Director Benudhar Senapati.
On the intervention of Childline, a case has also been registered at Balipatna police station on the basis of a complaint filed by the child’s grandfather.
Childline is further investigating the matter, said Senapati.
