Minor Girl From West Bengal Gang-Raped In Odisha’s Balasore
Balasore: A girl from West Bengal was allegedly gang-raped by five youths in Bhogarai block of Balasore district on Friday.
Locals found the girl in an unconscious state on Saturday morning and admitted her to Bhograi primary health centre (PHC) and later shifted to Jaleswar community health centre (CHC) as her condition deteriorated.
On being informed, the Bhograi police reached the hospital and took the statement of the survivor.
Notably, the 13-year-old girl belongs to Ram Nagar in West Bengal.
The accused allegedly drugged the girl and took her to a secluded place. After committing the heinous crime, they then dumped the girl on the roadside near Rasulpur village and fled the spot.
Investigation into the incident is underway.
On October this year, a Kolkata woman was allegedly gang-raped for over 10 days at Konark in Puri district.
According to sources, she was held captive in a room at Konark Market Complex, about two km away from the Sun Temple, and allegedly forced into prostitution.
The incident came to light after the woman in her late twenties managed to slip out of the room and screamed for help from the terrace. She was rescued by locals and police with the help of fire brigade personnel, who broke open the door of the room.
A native of Howrah district, she was escorted to Konark by a middleman who promised her a job, the sources added.
Later, the police detained two persons in connection with the case.
