Mayurbhanj: In another shameful incident in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha, a minor girl student of an Ashram school was found pregnant. Police have initiated a probe into the incident.
The minor is a student of Class-IX at Shalakhunta Ashram School under Udala block of the district. The girl has undergone medical examination and the school headmistress has lodged a complaint with Udala police.
Earlier, a student of class VI was also found pregnant in an ashram school in Baripada. The police is also investigating the matter and have detained a boy of the same class.
There has been no end to the incidents of sexual abuse in residential schools. Earlier this year, a 14 year old delivered a baby in a tribal school hostel, sending shock waves across the state. The girl, who was allegedly raped by a 22-year-old college student of the same district eight months ago, had delivered a baby girl in the toilet of her school hostel.
