Jagatsinghpur: A minor girl was allegedly raped by a youth at Tirtol area in Jagatsinghpur district.
The girl was admitted to the community health centre in Manijanga. However, she was shifted to the district headquarters hospital after her condition deteriorated on Saturday morning.
According to available information, a youth named Litua, a distant relative of the victim, raped her when she was sleeping alone in her grandmother’s house late on Friday.
Hearing the child screaming, neighbours rushed to the spot. In the meantime, the accused managed to flee the spot.
Later, the victim was taken to the hospital in a critical condition.
On the basis of a complaint lodged by the survivor’s family members, Tirtol police arrested the accused from Manijanga in the district last night.
The locals have demanded strict action against the accused.
