Bhubaneswar: Unidentified miscreants allegedly attacked a man and kidnapped his female friend in Maitri Vihar area of Bhubaneswar on Monday.
As per preliminary information, a group of around four miscreants chased and attacked the young man in Maitri Vihar area of the city in the morning and then kidnapped the woman accompanying him.
The man, identified as Akash Singh, sustained critical injuries in the attack. He was rescued by locals was admitted to the Capital Hospital for treatment.
Following the incident, the assailants reportedly contacted Akash on his mobile phone, demanding ransom money for the release of his friend.
The Commissionerate Police have launched an operation to rescue the woman. Police teams are conducting raids at different places in and around the city as part of efforts to rescue the woman. Further details are awaited.
