Berhampur: A jewellery store owner and his daughter was attacked by miscreants during a loot at Bazar Sahi in Aska, Odisha’s Ganjam district at 8 pm on Thursday night.
According to sources, four masked miscreants arrived at Mahalakshmi Jewellers P on three motorcycles when the owner Prabhakar Patra and his daughter were closing the shop. They attacked both of them with sharp objects after they refused to hand over the shop keys.
The shop owner and his daughter raised an alarm. Upon hearing their shouts for help, locals rushed to the spot but were unable to catch the miscreants.
The store owner later filed a complaint at Aska Police station alleging that gold jewellery worth lakhs of rupees had been looted. A probe has been initiated into the incident.
Meanwhile, Patra who sustained severe injuries in the attack was first admitted to Aska sub-divisional hospital and later shifted to MKCG Medical College & Hospital in Berhampur.
