Dhenkanal: Unidentified miscreants decamped with valuables worth Rs 5 lakh by breaking open the lock of Baunsapal Gram Panchayat office in Kamakshanagar block of Odisha’s Dhenkanal late on Tuesday.
According to sources, they broke into the Panchayat office late last night and fled with a TV, inverter, batteries, sound machine, office supplies, and about Rs 30,000 in cash kept for Harishchandra Yojana. Many important documents were also stolen from the office cupboard of the Panchayat Executive Officer.
Finding all the door locks open in the office and the railings broken, the night watchman informed the village Sarpanch regarding the robbery.
Kamakshanagar police have launched a probe on the basis of a complaint lodged by the Sarpanch, the sources added.
