Baripada: Two miscreants on Friday allegedly looted ornaments and cash at gun-point from a woman revenue inspector (RI) while she was working in her office in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.
According to sources, the woman RI, Nirupama Nayak, was busy with her work at her office in Patabila under Karanjia police station around noon when two persons came there. They enquired from her about some official matters and left.
After some time, two more persons, wearing masks on their faces, came to the RI office and threatened Nayak with a gun and a sharp weapon. They took away her gold necklace, earrings, mobile phone and the key of her two-wheeler and fled.
Later, she called up Karanjia tehsildar with a mobile phone borrowed from another person and narrated the whole incident. The in-charge tehsildar of Karanjia, Vedvyas Bhoi, accompanied by additional tehsildar Nityananda Sethi went to the RI’s office and enquired about the incident.
They also went to Karanjia police station and filed a complaint. A team from the police station, led by sub-inspector Balaram Maharana went to the spot and started investigation. But the identity of the two looters has not been ascertained.
