Kodala: A controversy has erupted after the video of some migrant returnees complaining of mismanagement at a quarantine centre in Ganjam district went viral on social media.
The video was shot at a quarantine centre at Matha Berhampur in Sarasinghi panchayat area in Beguniapada block.
It shows the migrants protesting against alleged lack of facilities and poor quality of food at the centre.
According to the protesters, though the government is providing various facilities for them, the nodal officer and sarpanch have done nothing in this regard. They also alleged that their quarantine period was extended by seven days, but there was no improvement in their living condition.
The migrants threatened to leave the quarantine centre if their complaints were not addressed at the earliest.
On the other hand, the nodal officer, Duryadhan Sethi, denied the allegations and said all facilities are being provided at the quarantine centre.
