Ludhiana: Ahead of her debut in the entertainment industry, Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu has run into legal trouble.
Actor and producer Upasana Singh has moved a local court against Harnaaz for not honouring a contract she had signed for the promotion of her upcoming Punjabi film ‘Bai Ji Kuttange’.
Upasana’s civil suit, filed in Chandigarh district court, claims that Harnaaz has refused to give dates for promotions of Bai Ji Kuttange despite having signed an agreement to make herself available in person and virtually with her company Santosh Entertainment Studio LLP.
She has sought damages from Harnaaz for the alleged breach of contract.
According to PTI, Upasana said outside the court: “I gave Harnaaz a chance to act in the movie Bai ji Kuttange. Not only this, I also made Yaara Diyan Poo Baran in which Harnaaz is the heroine as well. I gave her a chance at that time when she was not Miss Universe. I spent a huge sum on this movie. It is not a small-budget movie.”
The trailer of Bai ji Kuttange was released on August 1, while the movie is scheduled to hit the theatres on August 19.
Harnaaz became the third Indian – after Sushmita Sen (1994) and Lara Dutta (2000) — to be crowned Miss Universe, in Israel last December.
