‘Missing’ Issue: MP’s 2 Close Aides Arrested For Assaulting Man for Pasting Posters

Bhubaneswar: Even as Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi responded to ‘missing’ posters found in the city by stating that she was doing her official duty as Parliamentarian, police have arrested two of her close aides for beating up the man who pasted the posters.

One Shubham Hira had lodged a complaint with police that Aparajita’s personal assistant Dhaneswara Barik and Jyotiranjan Panda had beat him up for pasting the ‘missing’ posters. He stated that he earned his livelihood by doing the poster pasting work and was unaware of their contents.

Acting on the complaint, police arrested Barik and Panda in Laxmisagar area.

The posters with the MP’s picture had questioned her silence on the draft heritage bylaws of the National Monuments Authority (NMA) for Lingaraj Temple and Ekamra Kshetra.

“The silence of Bhubaneswar MP on the move to stall Ekarma Khetra project exposes her sheer commitment to Bhubaneswar Development. People of Bhubaneswar will not forgive those hindering the project,” local MLA Ashok Chandra Panda had tweeted on Wednesday. Later, the hashtag #AparajitaMissing trended on Twitter.

In her reaction, the MP said, “Am amused that these posters have come up in Bhubaneswar at a time when the budget session of Parliament is on; it is my duty to be in the Lok Sabha now.”
