Keonjhar: In a shocking incident, the body of a missing boy was found stuffed in a sack in Odisha’s Keonjar district on Tuesday.
According to police sources, the nine-year-old boy, identified as Pawan Munda of Gopinathpur village under Champua police limits in the district, had gone missing since Monday evening. He reportedly left his house to play with his friends. As he did not return home till late evening, his family members were worried.
Along with a few locals, Pawan’s family members launched a frantic search for the boy. As they failed to trace Pawan, the family lodged a missing complaint at Champua police station.
On Tuesday morning, some villagers noticed a sack near Gourang Patra’s house. When they opened it out of curiosity, they found Pawan’s body packed inside the sack.
On being informed, Champua police along with a scientific team reached the spot. They sent the body for post-mortem and initiated a probe into the matter. Keonjhar SP also went to the village and monitored the investigation.
Alleging that Pawan was a victim of pre-planned murder, his family members have demanded a high-level inquiry into the matter.
Police said they were investigating all angles including possibility of Pawan’s family’s previous enmity with anybody in nearby areas.
