Sambalpur: After 17 days, the body of a missing woman was exhumed by a forensic team in presence of the Magistrate from a forested area near Amburi village in Sambalpur district on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Arati Devi (19).
Meanwhile, Dhanupali police have arrested her husband Kunal Singh Yadav, who led the cops to the spot, and his elder brother for the alleged murder.
According to sources, Arati, a native Bihar, had married Kunal, an auto-rickshaw driver, one-and-a-half years ago. She went missing from Bahalpada village on December 31. On January 1, Kunal informed Arati’s father about it and lodged a missing complaint at Dhanupali police station on January 3, stating that she left the house following an altercation with him.
Arti’s father arrived in Sambalpur on January 7 when he got no response to the several phone calls he made to know about her whereabouts but found Kunal’s house locked. Suspecting foul play, he then lodged a police complaint alleging that his daughter was murdered and buried by her in-laws, who he alleged used to torture her for dowry. They are absconding.
Acting on the complaint, police began a probe into the incident. On January 8 and 9, the cops along with a scientific team visited the house and found blood stain on a wall. They later dug up the body from the forest area and sent it for postmortem.
