Mumbai: Mithun Chakraborty’s son Mimoh shared in a recent interview how Salman Khan stood by him and lifted his spirits after his debut film ‘Jimmy’ bombed at the box office.
Talking of the ‘Sikandar’ actor’s greatness, Mimoh told Digital Commentary, “Salman bhai has helped me a lot. He has always been there like an elder brother. He suggested to my dad that the teaser of Jimmy should be played in theatres with his film Partner. That was his idea. And the title Jimmy was actually given by Sohail Khan.”
Describing the emotional turmoil he experienced when he stepped into the industry, Mimoh said, “I went to the theatre with my whole family to watch Partner. When the teaser for Jimmy came on, people went silent for a moment and then started clapping and whistling. I thought I had arrived. I was 24. That moment felt like I had become a star.”
He continued, “By Friday afternoon after the film released, everything stopped—phone calls, payments, everything. I felt like my world had crashed. I didn’t step out of the house for a year.”
Sharing how Salman lifted his spirits while he was filming ‘Sultan’, Mimoh said, “He called my mom and said, ‘Send him to the set.’ I went and spent the day with him. He pointed at me and told his assistant director, ‘You think you’re struggling? At least you have a chance. Look at him—he’s not even getting the opportunity to struggle.’ That line hit me hard. He told me to hang in there, and said he would stand by me when the time was right.”
Mimoh has featured in films like ‘Haunted – 3D’, ‘Loot’, and ‘Rocky.’
Recently, he was seen in the Netflix web series ‘Khakee: The Bengal Chapter.’
