‘Mo College’: Odisha Govt Asks Institutes To Set Up Committees

Bhubaneswar: Colleges and universities in Odisha have been asked to form committees to ensure proper implementation of the soon-to-be-launched  ‘Mo College Abhiyan’ and for greater synergy between the alumni and the alma mater.

Each of the committee will be headed by the vice-chancellor or the principal, as the case may be. It will invite alumni to contribute towards academic and other development of the institute.

On July 31, the Odisha government had announced that it would soon launch ‘Mo College’ programme on the lines of its ‘Mo School’ initiative to promote and facilitate volunteers to give back to their alma maters.

On November 6, it had set modalities for implementation of the alumni connect programne. The government had also announced that it would create a corpus of Rs 20 crore for the initiative, which will be managed primarily from two sources – contribution from donors and state government. It will contribute twice the amount donated by the alumni for the institute, subject to a cap of Rs 50 lakh.

The alumni will also engage in health check-up camp and organise industry visit for the students.

There are over 800 government-run universities and colleges in the state.
