Puri: The district administration will launch a week-long programme with the objective of mobilising people to become part of the “Mo Dham Mo Garba” campaign and appreciate the spirit of “Mo Dham Mo Kaam” on Sunday.
The administration has drawn up a series of activities during the campaign which calls for removal of legacy waste, adopting segregation of waste, pledge of purity, cleaning and beautification of the garbage vulnerable spots.
Speaking to media persons on Saturday, Puri collector Balwant Singh said, “If we have gained international recognition for the sea beach, why not for the city in sanitation. Our Dham is beautiful and we should take a pledge to make it more beautiful than others, be it Kashi or Dwaraka or Badrinath or Rameshwaram or Ujjain. The size of our city is also small compared to Cuttack or Bhubaneswar or Delhi or Chennai. Hence, we can do whatever we need.”
Prior to the launch of the programme, visioning exercise related meetings have been conducted with people across key sectors as well as stakeholders. The meetings focused on making Puri carve out a niche for itself in the international map with a 100% sanitation and cleanliness with direct involvement of people from all walks of lives.
