‘Mo School Abhiyan’ Is Now ‘Panchasakha Sikhya Setu’ In Odisha; Govt Issues Notification
Bhubaneswar: After making an announcement in the annual budget, the Odisha government has now officially renamed the state-sponsored scheme ‘Mo School Abhiyan’ as ‘Panchasakha Sikhya Setu’.
The School and Mass Education department has issued a notification regarding change of name of the programme.
Sources said the department has sent a communication to SPD, OSEPA-cum-member secretary to take necessary steps. Detailed modalities and guidelines for Panchasakha Sikhya Setu are likely to be released soon.
Officials said that efforts have been made in the revised scheme for the benefit of the students, active participation of alumni and other stakeholders. This will be done to bring a transformation in the field of school education.
Notably, the state government had announced the renaming of the Mo School Abhiyan while presenting the state budget in the Assembly on July 25. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who holds the Finance portfolio, had made this announcement in his maiden budget speech.
Mo School was was proposed to be renamed as Panchasakha Sikhya Setu Abhiyan with a proposed outlay of Rs 332 crore.
‘Mo School Abhiyan’ was launched by the previous BJD government on November 14, 2017, for the upliftment of government schools. The initiative is a platform to bring alumni, their alma mater, and the community around government-run or government-aided schools together.
