Mobile Detectors In Odisha Jails Soon
Cuttack: Close on the heels of the arrest of two girlfriends of dreaded criminal Mohammed Sakil, who is currently lodged in Choudwar Circle Jail, the Odisha Police have decided to install mobile detectors in all jails of the state.
“This decision was taken to curb crime network operating from the jail premises,” DG, Prisons, Santosh Upadhyay told the media here on Tuesday.
He said 300 mobile detectors will be installed in 91 jails in the first phase. “The number of mobile detectors to be installed in other jails will be decided on the basis of the number of the prisoners,” the DG said.
Stating that the security in the Choudwar Circle Jail will be tightened to keep a watch on the dreaded criminals like Mohammad Sakil, he said the restrictions on the use of mobile phones by the jail staff inside the jail will remain in force.
“The jail staff before entering the jail will have to hand over their mobile phone to the security personnel at the main gate of the jail,” he added.
