Malkangiri: Robbers struck at a shop and reportedly took away mobile phones worth over Rs 1.5 crore in Odisha’s Malkangiri district.

As per information, the incident took place in the wee hours of Wednesday at Om Mobile Care, considered the largest mobile shop in Malkangiri town. The shop is located just one kilometre from the police station.

CCTV footage showed that the thieves broke through the back wall of the shop at around 3:30 am. One of them entered the shop, loaded expensive mobile phones into a bag, and handed it over to two accomplices waiting outside.

The thieves stole mobile phones priced between Rs 20,000 and Rs one lakh. The robbery came to light in the morning when the shop owner visited the site. He immediately informed the Malkangiri police.

The thieves discarded mobile accessories and packed the stolen phones into seven polythene bags. One bag was found abandoned, and upon inspection, it contained mobile phones. The stolen mobile phones were valued at around Rs 1.5 crore.

The police have launched an investigation with a scientific team to examine the evidence. Police verified the CCTV footage to identify the culprits.
