Moderate Rainfall In Coastal Odisha In Next 72 Hours

Bhubaneswar: The coastal districts of Odisha are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall in the next 72 hours with a cyclonic circulation forming over the south Bay of Bengal.
According to Dr Sarat Chandra Sahu, former director of the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, a cyclonic circulation is most likely to form over the south Bay of Bengal and its nearby area off the Chennai coast in the next 48 hours on October 27 and concentrate into a low-pressure in the next 24 hours on October 28.
Under its influence, light to moderate rainfall will occur in the coastal districts mostly in Kendrapara, Bhadrak and Balasore for the three days starting from October 28.

According to the modular study, there is, however, no indication of any cyclonic storm, he added.

Talking about the light rainfall in the interior districts of Jharsuguda, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh and Bargarh on October 23 and some parts of coastal districts including Bhubaneswar and its nearby areas last evening, he said the rainfall occurred due to the blowing of the wind from the north-west direction carrying moisture in the area and the rising day temperature.
