Bhubaneswar: Students belonging to different faculties of SOA Deemed to be University are contesting in 13 sporting disciplines for the coveted ‘SOA Cup’. The events began on Friday with the Vice-Chancellor Prof. R.K.Chauhan urging the participants to showcase their talent during the month-long competition.
“Compete to excel in different sports but maintain discipline,” Prof. Chauhan, who was the chief guest at the inaugural function held at the sports complex of Campus-2, told the participating students.
The sporting disciplines would involve athletics, badminton, basketball, chess, cricket, football, kabaddi, softball, table tennis, tennis, throw ball and volleyball. There will also be a competition for the best physique.
SOA’s Dean (Students’ Welfare), Dr. Jyoti Ranjan Das attended the inaugural programme as the guest of honour. The university’s Sports Officer, Sunita Barma and Junior Sports Officer, Priyam Mallick addressed the gathering.
