Bhubaneswar: With the availability of adequate doses of vaccines, the Odisha government has decided to intensify the inoculation drive in the state and surpass the 3.5 lakh doses a day target.
In a letter to Collectors, Municipal Commissioners and CDMOs, Additional Chief Secretary (Health) PK Mohapatra informed that Health Ministry has nearly doubled the monthly vaccine allocation to states, and faster vaccine consumption will lead to higher allocation.
The issue of syringe availability has also been resolved, he added.
Mohapatra said that the focus should be on three groups. Beneficiaries, who have missed their second dose, should be administered the vaccine on a priority basis, along with teachers and non-teaching staff of government and private schools and pregnant women, he said.
The districts have been asked to plan and ramp up the vaccination drive to achieve more than the 3.5 lakh doses per day target of the state.
