Bhubaneswar: A 108-ft monumental National Flag now flies high on Rama Devi Women’s University campus in Odisha capital.
The varsity received a 108-ft monumental flagpole on Wednesday and a national flag measuring 25 ft in length and 24 ft in width was hoisted atop it installed in front of its administrative building with the support of Flag Foundation of India.
Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy, Deputy Chief Minister K V Singhdeo, along with Vice-Chancellor Aparajita Chowdhury, unveiled the national flag.
Praising the efforts of MP and industrialist Naveen Jindal, who heads the Flag Foundation of India, Singhdeo thanked him for his decade-long legal battle which secured the right for every Indian to hoist the Tricolour throughout the year with dignity.
Padhy, an alumnus of the university, said hoisting the national flag on the campus would instil nationalism among students. She thanked the Vice-Chancellor for planning year-long events to celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of Rama Devi.
In his virtual address, Naveen Jindal highlighted the importance of the Tricolour in inspiring patriotism among citizens. “The national flag represents our collective spirit and unity. It is a source of pride for every Indian, and we are honoured to be a part of this initiative. The sight of the Tricolour soaring high will inspire generations of students to serve the nation with dedication,” he said.
This is the 158th monumental National Flag installed by the Flag Foundation of India across the country and the eighth in Odisha.
