New Delhi: A team of officials from security agencies has been sent to Azerbaijan to apprehend gangster Sachin Bishnoi, a key conspirator in Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala’s murder, reported India Today.
Sachin, nephew of notorious criminal Lawrence Bishnoi, fled India soon after Moose Wala’s killing in May last year, using a forged passport. Sachin has been on the run ever since.
The joint team — comprising of officers from Delhi Police Special Cell and Counter Intelligence Unit — is expected to reach Azerbaijan tonight. They have been tasked with securing Sachin Bishnoi’s extradition to India.
Sachin was detained in Azerbaijan earlier this month. Once he is brought back to India and interrogated, the loose ends of the Moose Wala are expected to be strung together.
Moose Wala was shot dead in Jawaharke village of Punjab’s Mansa district on May 29, 2022.
Soon after, Goldy Brar — a key member of Lawrence Bishnoi gang — admitted in a Facebook post that he had planned the murder to avenge the killing of another gangster.
Police later named Brar, who is in Canada, as chief mastermind behind Moose Wala’s murder. Brar is among Canada’s top 25 most wanted fugitives.
