Bhubaneswar: With the formation of a cyclonic circulation over the west-central and adjoining north-west Bay of Bengal Bay of Bengal off the Odisha coast, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more rainfall in coastal Odisha in the next 24 hours.
Talking to mediapersons on Saturday, director of the IMD’s Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar branch, H.R. Biswas said that a cyclonic circulation which has formed over the west-central and adjoining north-west Bay of Bengal off the Odisha coast in the morning is most likely concentrate into a low-pressure in the next 24 hours. Under its influence, more rainfall will occur in the coastal districts for three days from October 28.
He said the IMD has issued yellow warning for the coastal districts where isolated heavy rainfall will occur during the period.
“As per the yellow warning, there will be isolated heavy rainfall in Puri, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur districts while on October 28, Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore on October 29 and Bhadrak and Balasore on October 30,” Biswas said.
Due to inclement weather condition, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the deep sea of the west-central and north Bay of Bengal on October 29 and 30, while the fishermen, who have already in the deep sea, are advised to return to the coast by the night of October 28, he added.
