More Rainfall In Odisha Likely As IMD Predicts Fresh Low Pressure
Bhubaneswar: While the recent depression over the Bay of Bengal has triggered heavy rainfall in the coastal district of Odisha, the state is most likely to receive heavy rainfall on the influence of another depression.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday said a fresh low-pressure area is going to form over the central Bay of Bengal around October 19. However, the movement of the low-pressure will be known after its formation.
Meanwhile, the IMD in a mid-day bulletin issued heavy rainfall warning in the coastal districts of South Odisha in the next 24 hours.
The trough from the west-central Bay of Bengal to east-central Arabian Sea runs across north coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana while cyclonic circulation associated with the well-marked low-pressure area has formed over south Madhya Maharashtra and adjoining south Konkan.
Under its influence, there will be heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kalahandi and Kandhamal. Thunderstorm with lightning will occur at one or two places over Nabarangpur, Koraput, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Balangir, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapada in the next 24 hours and Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Kandhamal in the subsequent 24 hours, the bulletin said.
