More Than 1 Quintal Ganja Seized, 3 Brown Sugar Sellers Arrested In Odisha Capital
Bhubaneswar: Khandagiri police seized 101 kg ganja and arrested two persons following a raid near Kharvel park on Monday night.
The ganja was being transported to Bhadrak from Kandhamal in a four-wheeler when police intercepted the vehicle, Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda informed.
The accused have been identified as Sanjib Kumar Sethi alias Muna (34) of Khajuripada and Badal Mahakud (26) of Dumburiguda in Kandhamal district.
“This year so far, the Commissionerate Police has seized 1.65 tonnes ganja in a special drive against the contraband. We have registered 42 cases and arrested 76 persons in this connection. The drive against ganja will continue in the Twin City,” the Police Commissioner said.
In another case, Maitri Vihar police arrested three persons from Rail Vihar square area on Monday night and seized 1.12 grams of brown sugar from their possession.
The accused have been identified as Madhusmita Nayak of Nayapalli, Md Sadam of Malda in West Bengal and Papun Pradhan of Kela Sahi in Bhubaneswar.
Cash of Rs 25,000, a two wheeler and two mobile phones have been seized from them, police informed.
