Bhubaneswar: With a high per cent of the total positive cases detected in quarantine centres at panchayat level, the State Government has directed the sarpanches to remain vigilant and have an eye on the inmates of the centres and their movement.

In his daily press briefing, the Government’s COVID-19 spokesperson Subroto Bagchi on Monday said an analysis of positive cases reported in the last few days has established that of the 241 cases, 229 were detected in returnees staying in quarantine centres in panchayats. Thousands of migrant Odia labourers have returned to the state during the period.

The sarpanches have also been asked to inform the Government if they find corona symptoms in any person staying in their quarantine centres so that immediate treatment can be extended to him.

Bagchi said following the initiative of Ganjam collector, the government has directed the officials to impart training on COVID-19, its symptoms and remedial measures to those staying in quarantine centres.  It can help the inmates promote awareness among people of their areas after they complete the mandatory quarantine period.
