Balangir: A motorcyclist died late Tuesday night in Odisha’s Balangir town after his two-wheeler skidded and he was dragged underneath a bus while avoiding a collision.
The deceased has been identified as Prashant Mahakud of Madhiapalli village of Chinched gram panchayat in Balangir tehsil.
According to sources, the accident occurred near Maa Patneswari temple in Balangir town at 11.55 pm. The CCTV footage shows that the biker was speeding and suddenly put brakes at a turn to avoid a collision with the bus, traveling from Balangir toward Sonepur. It knocked the rider off balance, causing the motorcycle to slide beneath the bus, resulting in severe injuries.
Locals informed Balangir town police, who reached the spot and shifted the injured rider to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. His family members have been informed and the postmortem will be conducted after their arrival.
An investigation is underway into the circumstances leading to the fatal crash.
