MoU to promote tribal research in Koraput region
Koraput: Central University of Orissa (CUO) and Council of Analytical Tribal Studies (COATS) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) here on Tuesday to enhance cooperation in higher educational sector and tribal research development.
Vice-Chancellor of CUO Sachidananda Mohanty and COATS director P C Mohapatra signed the MoU in presence of senior officials of both institutes.
“COATS is a pioneer in tribal research in this region and it is a pleasure to be associate with it. For overall development of tribal people, this MoU is a welcome step and excellent beginning for both organization,” said Mohanty.
Mohapatra said documentation of cultural heritage of the undivided KBK district particularly tribes like Kandha and Gaddba will be initiated with the co-operation of CUO.
According to varsity sources, the MoU has signed for 3 years and it will be extended on mutual agreement.
The objectives of this MoU were to provide expert advice and support for the overall development of CUO into a Centre of Excellence in Tribal studies, promote collaborative research activities between the institutions as well as those of national and international repute, carry out joint research projects, exchange of students and faculty, exchange of academic information and materials and to organize and participate in joint academic activities such as courses, conferences, seminars, workshops, symposia and lectures. Skill development training programme for local tribal will also be organised at CUO, the sources added.
