Begunia: Rajya Sabha member Prashanta Nanda’s son Rishabh on Tuesday met Khurda SP Dipti Ranjan Ray and requested him to nab those involved in the bomb attack on his vehicle the previous night.
“A group of 10-12 people hurled bombs and fired at my vehicle. It could be the handiwork of people jealous of my popularity,” Rishabh said.
The SP assured him of police protection if need be. “Investigation into the case is on. A scientific team has been sent to the spot to collect evidence. The culprits will be nabbed soon.”
Bombs were reportedly hurled at Rishabh’s vehicle at Begunia in Khurda district on Monday evening.
Though there were no casualties, the vehicle was damaged in the bomb attack, sources said.
The attack was suspected to have been carried out at the behest of Begunia MLA from BJD Prasanta Jagadev, the sources added.
