Berhampur: Rajya Sabha member Sasmit Patra has sanctioned Rs 10 lakh from MPLAD fund for development of Siddha Vinayak Ganesh temple in Odisha’s Ganjam district.
The Ganesh temple at Panchama under Rangeilunda block, which is under Endowment department, has been in poor condition due to lack of maintenance since long. The local devotees have been appealing to the authorities for the temple’s renovation without any results.
During a visit of political secretary to chief minister Dr Gopabandhu Das, Randa sarpanch Ajit Raula and deputy mayor of Berhampur E Bibek Reddy to the temple on June 23, the priests, servitors and locals drew their attention to the temple’s condition and sought help.
Dr Das assured them of looking into the problem and contacted the MP for assistance. Patra, in a letter to the collector of nodal district Mayurbhanj, has directed to sanction Rs 10 lakh for development of the Ganesh temple at Panchama.
