Bhubaneswar: With the budget session of the Odisha Assembly set to begin on Tuesday, security arrangements at the premises were thoroughly reviewed on Monday.
The inspection was carried out by Commissioner of Police Suresh Dev Datta Singh along with the Bhubaneswar DCP Jagamohan Meena, who personally assessed the deployment and preparedness of forces inside and around the Assembly complex. The budget session of 2026 will be held in 2 phases from February 17 to April 6.
Altogether 35 platoons of police forces will be deployed along with 7 Additional Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), 22 Additional Commissioners of Police (ACPs), 29 inspectors and 111 sub-inspectors. The security staff also includes 1 platoon commandos of Special Operations Group (SOG) and Special Tactical Unit (STU) each, bomb squad and fire services.
Traffic restrictions are expected from 120 battalion to Rabindra Mandap and Jaydev Bhawan for the public during the budget session.
The review focused on ensuring that all entry and exit points of the Assembly are tightly guarded, with police personnel strategically stationed to monitor movement. Special emphasis was placed on crowd management and maintaining order during the session, which traditionally witnesses heightened political activity and public attention.
Top police officials examined the Assembly premises, checking barricades, surveillance systems and deployment strength.
