A family court in Mumbai has granted divorce to former media baron Peter Mukerjea and his estranged wife Indrani on Thursday. Both ar
e facing trial in the murder case of Sheena Bora, Indrani’s daughter from a previous marriage.
The couple had moved the family court in suburban Bandra in September last year, seeking divorce by mutual consent, according to a report in The Hush Post.
Their divorce settlement included division of assets, including the couple’s properties in Spain and London, bank deposits and other investments.
Indrani, who is also a former media executive, had served Peter Mukerjea a notice for divorce on the grounds that their marriage had “irretrievably broken down” and there was no chance of reconciliation. 47-year-old Indrani and 65-year-old Peter Mukerjea married in 2002.
Both are in jail under judicial custody since their arrest in the Sheena Bora murder case 2015.
