Mumbai Records Its 2nd Worst Air Quality Level in 5 Years

Mumbai: The air quality index (AQI) in the city on Friday fell to 307 which comes under ‘very poor’ category. On January 1, 2016, the worst AQI was recorded at 323.

Dense fog and low wind speed keep pollutants trapped in the air, said weather experts.

Similarly, the situation is “severe” in Noida and Ghaziabad. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has noted that the air quality index (AQI) of Noida on Friday was 455, and Ghaziabad was 470.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the low wind speed of 8-10 kmph is preventing pollutants from dispersing.
