Berhampur: Seven months after a woman was found allegedly murdered in Ganjam district, police have arrested the accused.
Police had seized the body of 22-year-old Pramodini of Dekhali village from Kandheijodi river where she had gone to wash her clothes on May 10. Her mutilated body was found floating in knee-deep water by the villagers.
Following investigation, police came to know that Prakash Behera (35) of Dekhali village was involved in the crime and was absconding. Police announced Rs 10,000 award on information regarding the whereabouts of the accused Prakash.
After sustained efforts to trace Prakash and on the basis of information, Berhampur police arrested Prakash.
Police said he admitted that he tried to hug Pramodini but killed her after she refused and raised an alarm. Prakash is married and has two children.
