Bhubaneswar: In a fresh salvo against Odisha police in Naba Das murder case, BJP stalwart and leader of opposition Jayanarayan Mishra on Wednesday alleged that accused Gopal Das was just the shooter and said efforts should be to find the ‘handler’.
Alleging involvement of many bigwigs in the mysterious murder of the Health Minister, Mishra accused the Crime Branch of state police of enacting a drama in the name of carrying out investigation.
Stating that the dismissed police official is already stated to have made a confession about having committed the crime, he said the investigators should now try to identify those behind the sensational murder.
“Gopal Das is just the shooter, but police are not searching for the handler. Many bigwigs are behind the murder,” the senior BJP leader claimed.
Referring to the recreation of the crime scene by the Crime Branch at Brajarajnagar in Jharsuguda district on Tuesday, Mishra claimed that the investigation in the case is heading nowhere and the whole exercise was aimed at misleading people.
Alleging that attempts are being made to suppress the case, the BJP leader said the second phase of the ex-ASI’s remand is also coming to an end, but no effort was made to probe the conspiracy angle.
