Bhubaneswar: The Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan (NNKS) will gherao the Raj Bhawan here on January 8 demanding price, prestige and pension to the farmers of Odisha.
This was informed by the national convener of the Sangathan, Akshaya Kumar here on Thursday.
Talking to mediapersons, he said the state government has repeatedly told us that it has taken up our issue with the Prime Minister. But the Prime Minister has not taken up the matter saying he has no time, it has decided to stage a demonstration before the Parliament.
“We want to ask the state government that why it is not taking up the farmers’ issues on its own?” Kumar said.
He also said that the Sangathan will take up the matter with the Prime Minister In Khurda during his visit to Odisha on December 22 and submit him a memorandum and seek his stand on this issue.
