Chennai: Even as fans are eagerly looking forward to the Rajinikanth-starrer ‘Jailer 2’, filmmaker Nelson Dilipkumar has added to their excitement by roping in Nandamuri Balakrishna for a cameo in the film.
A source close to the film’s unit told Hindustan Times, “It is true that NBK has said yes to a powerful role in Jailer 2. He loved what Nelson pitched to him and looks forward to shooting for the film soon.”
The source added, “He plays more of a guest role in the film than a cameo because he wanted something solid, and Nelson delivered. Fans are going to love it.”
When Rajini’s ‘Jailer’ hit the screens in 2023, Telugu fans were upset with the filmmaker for not casting Balakrishna or Chiranjeevi in the film.
Instead, the filmmaker had roped in Malayalam actor Mohanlal and Kannada actor Shiva Rajkumar, which left the Telugu fans disheartened.
After sensing the disappointment of the audience, Nelson had told Cinema Vikatan in 2023, “Balakrishna sir was in my mind, but I could not design and fit his character into the script properly. That’s why I dropped it. I feel that in Jailer 2, if Balakrishna does the role I have in mind, it will be powerful. I will definitely approach him because I want him to play a deadly police officer.”
However, now with Balakrishna playing an important guest role in the film, the Telugu audience should be flocking to the theatres.
