New Delhi: A 22-year-old Pakistani, who crossed the international border to kill suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma, will have to undergo a narco test as he is not cooperating with investigating authorities.
Officials of Intelligence Bureau, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and Military Intelligence Agency – who are probing him – have a suspicion that Rizwan Ashraf is a trained terrorist, India Today reported quoting sources.
Rizwan confessed after several days of interrogation that he came to India to kill Nupur for her controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammed. But since then, he is refusing to answer the several follow-up questions.
Therefore, the agencies sought permission for narco test on Rizwan, which has been granted by the Sriganganagar district court in Rajasthan.
Rizwan, currently lodged in an Ajmer jail, will be taken to Gujarat under high security for the narco test between October 10 and 15.
Border Security Force personnel nabbed Rizwan at the Sriganganagar border of India and Pakistan in July, and two knives and other items from his possession.
Nupur, who was BJP’s national spokesperson, made some controversial remarks about the Prophet during a TV show in end-May, amid the Gyanvapi mosque row.

Her objectionable comments triggered violent protests across India, with multiple cases being registered against Nupur for hurting religious sentiments and calling for her arrest.
There was global uproar as well, with 14 nations slamming the BJP-headed Indian government for Nupur’s comments.
Nupur was ultimately suspended from the party.
