Bhubaneswar: The song ‘Luhare Budibaku’ from the Odia feature film ‘Adieu Godard’ marks several firsts.
Popular singer and lyricist Rupam Islam has made his Odia debut with this song and he is super excited. “I feel this is one of the best songs in my musical journey. The expressions have been used beautifully and Kisaloy Roy (music director) and his team have done an excellent work,” Rupam said.
Rupam won the National Film Award for best male playback singer in 2010. Rupam has numerous Bengali superhit songs to his name and also lent his voice to popular Bollywood numbers including ‘Jannat Jahan’ (Jannat) and ‘Dil Kare’ (All the Best).
Incidentally, this is also the first time that the film’s director, Amartya Bhattacharyya, has penned the lyrics of an Odia song.
Speaking about the experience, Amartya said, “I feel blessed to have learnt Odia and write my first song in one of India’s classical languages. It is a double delight because with this song, we have brought the uniqueness of Rupam Islam’s voice in Odia for the first time. I wish and hope that ‘Luhare Budibaku’ will reach the ears it deserves to reach.”
As for music composer Kisaloy, this is his first Odia song. “I am overwhelmed to see such a good response to my first Odia song. This song will enrich every music lover in a unique way,” he gushed.
The music video of ‘Luhare Budibaku’ was recently uploaded on YouTube and has been winning rave reviews from listeners since then.
The world premiere of the film ‘Adieu Godard’ was held at the 43rd Moscow International Film Festival in April 2020.
Besides being the director, Amartya is also the writer, cinematographer and editor. Swastik Choudhury is the producer.
