Bhubaneswar: Odisha para athletes won 2 gold, a silver and 2 bronze medals on Day 1 of the 24th National Para Athletics Championships at Kalinga Stadium here on Thursday.
Jayanti Behera clinched gold in Women’s 100m T47 event, clocking an impressive timing of 13.17 seconds.
In Women’s 100m T12 category, Janaki Oram topped the race in a time of 13.81 seconds.
Adding to Odisha’s tally were Kabita Prabahue, Ranjit Chanda and Kamalakanta Nayak.
Kabita earned a silver in Women’s 100m T13 event, finishing second by clocking 16.05 seconds.
In Men’s Javelin Throw F46 event, Ranjit managed a best of 55.55 metres to claim bronze. Satyanarayan Jena also put up a strong performance, achieving a distance of 51.49 metres, missing out on a podium finish.
Kamalakanta clinched bronze in Men’s 100m T53 event with a timing of 20.81 seconds.
